Burr Ridge’s history may not be the most dynamic, but its evolution reflects its appeal. Before westward expansion, the land was home to various Native American tribes. European American settlers arrived in the 1830s, and the area remained largely farmland for decades.

A turning point came in 1917 when the INTERNATIONAL HARVESTER COMPANY purchased 414 acres for an experimental farm. Over time, more people moved in, leading to the establishment of the Village of Harvester. The village later merged with Burr Ridge Estates, officially becoming Burr Ridge in 1962.
